The Journey Continues

We have stopped tonight in Tillamook, as in the cheese. Yes, there is a factory, and yes, we are going to have free cheese samples! DUH!
"If you like cheese, then a visit to the home of Tillamook Cheese is a must. Over one million folks tour our Visitor's Center each year to watch the cheesemakers and packagers at work and to enjoy the rich, delicious Tillamook goodies available at the ice cream dipping counters, fudge counter and cafe. And don't forget the sampling counter where you can taste for yourself our internationally award-winning cheeses."
I do love cheese... and I don't think I'll forget the sampling counter.
Yesterday we saw the Sea Lion Caves and all the hundreds of loud, stinky Sea Lions. They are crazy - they bark at each other non-stop! Too bad I couldn't get a good shot of them because I could not use a flash.

We also saw a few lighthouses; The Heceta Head Lighthouse and The Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.

We drove through an area where the Oregon Aquarium was located. We didn't go to the aquarium itself but found ourselves in Aquarium Town. Say hi to Wally the Walrus and Nelly the Sea Monster.

There was a really cool bridge in Newport call the Yaquina Bay Bridge. It was a beautiful area - we watched the sunset & even some surfers.

We settled in Lincoln City at the Devil's Lake State Park. It finally started raining last night, but we managed to get in our first camp fire just before the downpour. It pored all through the night and most of today.

We tried to fish today at Holmes park on Devil's Lake. Caught some fish of the 'Goldfish' variety. Uhh, just kidding - absolutely no luck. But I did master my cast for the fishing I'll be doing in the future.

It was fun though so we are going to try and go again near Creswell with little bro Harry.
So, tomorrow is the Cheese Factory tour and then on up to Cannon Beach for what Grandma ML says is the best cup of clam chowder around. Then we'll shoot across to Portland and back down to Eugene. Hopefully on Sunday we'll go skiing in Bend at Mt. Bachelor. There is a new winery near Creswell so I'd like to go wine tasting when we are in the area too. It's been a really fun adventure so far!!
